The convenient truth is that carbon and cost point the same way. Idle resources burn electricity for nothing; rightsizing and tighter packing mean fewer machines drawing power; deleting zombie infrastructure removes both spend and emissions. The genuinely independent levers are region choice, grids vary enormously in carbon intensity, and time-shifting flexible work to cleaner-energy hours.
Example. A company adds region carbon intensity to its placement policy and moves batch analytics to a low-carbon region with similar prices. Emissions for that workload drop by half, and the optimization review now reports kilograms alongside dollars.
